This little rascal has just appeared on the desktop and I can't get rid of it. It's not in any of the various user Desktop folders.
Left-clicking does nothing and a right-click gives one option "Create shortcut".
Does anyone know what it is and how I can remove it.
Thank you.

Common Places folder on desktop
Here's an update on the little blighter :-
I rebooted and it's disappeared from the desktop. I'd still like to know what caused it. Prior to it appearing I was messing around with permissions and the like.
The exact this happened to me and I, as of yet, have not been able to find out the reason for it, but I am glad that it is gone.
I thought that I might not be able to get rid of it.
